Jointly organized by Morgan State University and Microscopy Collaborative Foundation

This four-day workshop is designed for college and university life science educators interested in incorporating electron microscopy concepts and applications into their existing biology, microbiology, biotechnology, anatomy and physiology, cell biology, or related curricula.
Biological EM Sample Preparation I,
coming soon

Designed for beginners, this intensive two-day course introduces the fundamentals of biological electron microscopy (EM) sample preparation. Through lectures, hands-on laboratory exercises, and live demonstrations, participants will gain practical experience with specimen fixation, resin embedding of cells and tissues, negative staining, and the complete workflow required to prepare biological samples for EM analysis.
Ultramicrotomy for Beginners,
coming soon

Designed for beginners, this intensive two-day hands-on course introduces the fundamental skills of ultramicrotomy for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Through expert instruction and extensive laboratory practice, participants will learn how to trim resin-embedded specimens, use glass or diamond knives, operate an ultramicrotome, and collect ultrathin sections for TEM analysis. The course emphasizes practical techniques and best practices, providing participants with the confidence and skills needed to produce high-quality ultrathin sections for biological electron microscopy.
